GENOVA WEATHER FAMILY DAY
Alexander: I slept in late, then me and the host family drove to a nearby town via highway, and then from there to a parking area two clicks from Portofino. We walked the remaining distance, got drinks at the cafe (in my case an Italian-style hot chocolate with whipped cream), and then walked part of the way back before it started raining and we decided to take a bus back to the parking lot.
Nicole: Today I woke up at 11:30 and went to Murta for the pumpkin festival. We ate a lot of food there then went to Feeky's house to warm up for the soccer match that we attended. We rode the train and bus to get to the match that we intended to go to. The match was very crazy and they ended up winning 7-0! I then came home and ate dinner! Very successful day!
Taylor: Today I woke up around 10:30 and had toast with nutella on it and coffee. Shortly after breakfast, we had to catch the train. We went to Feakis neighborhood which is called Murta. This weekend in Murta is the Pumpkin Festival where there was food, judging, and different sorts of pumpkins. We had lunch at the festival where I had steak and french fries. After we walked around and tried many different pumpkin desserts and chestnuts. A lady also shared how pumpkins and herbs were used for medicines. After the festival we went to feekys to warm up before the soccer match. On the way to the match, we had to walk down a steep hill and I almost slipped. Soon we reached the train which took us to the match. Soccer matches in italy are very intense in the cheer section. Our team won, the first time they have won in awhile. After the match we rode home with Luke and his Italian. Once I got home, we had dinner which was tortellini in a broth. Today was a great day!
Luke: Today I woke up around 10:30 and I ate a big breakfast with sausage, eggs and, coffee. We got ready at around 11:00 and Floriano was feeling better so he wanted to show me around the town he lives in. Sori is a small town on the outskirts of Genoa and is a very beautiful place to live. We walked down to the ocean and walked along the ocean for awhile and I took a lot of pictures of the ocean and the things surrounding it. We then went back to the house for lunch. For lunch we had real Italian spaghetti, which was my first time. The spaghetti tasted better than any other spaghetti I had ever had. We then left for the soccer game that night. The game was very exciting and everyone on our side had lots of energy. Our team won which was very exciting for everyone on our side. The other team was very salty that they lost, and we went home the victors.
Gavin: Today, me, Edo, Deiana, Leigha, and Samuel visited the Boccadasse, an area that consisted of not boats but people. The beach was rock based, consisting of an andesite like rock that intertwined with the black and grey sand. The buildings popped out with beautiful colors, yet the stuck so close to one another. After visiting Boccadasse, we split up at the bus station, and me and Edo went on to eat dinner with his father. We had a chickpea flour based bread, along with Ficcochia topped with various things such as Italian ham, normal ham, salad and tomatoes, and lastly, pesto. Each set of bread was a meter long, and you can probably imagine the toll it took on my stomach.
