GÉNOVA WEATHER

Sam giving examples of studied gestures

Lisa: The first day of our adventure in Genoa went amazing. We arrived at school where we went to class, met the principal and assistant principal, and learned a few Italian hand gestures with one of the teachers at the school. A while later, a class came in and we split up into groups of six, 2 Americans with 4 Italians and learned about each other. We played a guessing game where we had to write a weird or unusual fact about ourselves on a small piece of paper and put it into a pile and pick a random one from the pile. We had to guess who wrote the fact about themself. We played karaoke where we got to sing Country Roads by John Denver. Then we went up to the roof of the school and got to see Genoa from above. While we were up on the roof, a local named Bernardo Pellegrini was practicing some music with his window open and we listened to him play and applauded him. We asked him if he could play Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen again, as he had played that earlier and he played it for us. A few of us joined in on singing the lyrics. Afterwards we headed back inside in the classroom and our Italian counterparts joined us. We ate some food and taught them how to dance to Cotton Eyed Joe and The Cha Cha slide and they taught us a couple of songs as well. After that we went on a tour of Genoa where we got to see the port and learn some history of the city before it started raining on us. We had to cut the tour short and went our separate ways with our Italians.
