Being able to travel to Europe has always been something that I have truly wanted to experience in its truest form.  When I found out that I would have the opportunity to go next year, I was so excited!  I, then,  tried to convince all of my friends that they should go so we could experience Italy  and its culture, as well as Europe , together.

Friends are a very important part of my life.  Almost every weekend my friends and I like to get together and enjoy each other’s company and just have a great time.  Not only friends, but family is also an important part of my life and we are all involved in each other’s lives. I would really like to involve the people so important to me in my life with an exchange student from Italy, and let them experience the way we live each day in America, as well as being given the opportunity to experience their culture first-hand.

My older sister Shea-Mikal, who is currently a freshman at Frostburg State University , was a member of the Italian Exchange Program in 2003 and now is a member of the Italian Exchange Alumni.  With her, she brought back many interesting stories, pictures, and souvenirs that she had purchased, as well as everyday parts of the Italian culture such as food and clothes.  This peaked my interest and enthusiasm for going to Italy even more.

My parents would love to have another student come to stay with us.  We really enjoyed Sara Nasca, our last exchange student, who stayed with my sister in 2003, and who made a lasting friendship with Shea-Mikal.  They still keep in touch with each other to this very day.  Sara’s sister, Sylvia, is participating in the program this year and I would love to stay with her and get to know her as well.  I have recently got to know her a bit better through exchanging e-mails with her.

Dennis Green, my father, is the postmaster at the Fort Ashby Post Office, and Kathy Green, my mother, is a third grade teacher at Springfield GreenSpring Elementary School .  They support me in all that I do.  Since High School I have played basketball, softball, am an officer of DECA (a business organization), and represent my class in Student Council.  I have also been in 4-H for eight years and attend church at Forest Glen United Methodist.  Those are a few of the many things I am involved in.  When I’m not busy with these things I enjoy chatting on the internet to friends and, also, as I mentioned before, spending time with friends and family and just being myself.  I think I have a funny personality and like to have fun with them.

There are many reasons why I would love to go to Italy -such as being able to view the world outside of the United States .  Not only would it be wonderful to go to Italy , but also to have someone stay with me and take the time to get to know them and how they live.  The influences I would get from the Italian Exchange Program would affect my entire life and I would be able to share these experiences with people who maybe didn’t have a chance to go.

I would love to go to Italy for the chance of a lifetime, and I would completely embrace it with a conviction to enjoy every moment of it thoroughly.
