Participating in the Italian Exchange Program would be a dream come true and an experience I would never forget.  I have always wanted to travel to a far away land where the food, the speech, the lifestyle, and the scenery are totally different from anything I'm used to or have ever seen.  If I am accepted, I want to learn and experience all I can through this program.

There are so many ways I can benefit from traveling to Italy .   Hopefully it will help me learn German a little better and maybe I'll even learn a little Italian.  Another way will be my total view of the world.  I'll be able to get a sense of the world outside of Romney , WV and how it works.  I also love the differences in people, and have always thought that it's our differences that make the world so beautiful, mysterious, and exiting. Through the Italian Exchange I'll be able to meet new people and try new things that I would never dare do before, including getting on a plane.  I will also, in a way, be preparing myself for my career as an abroad doctor.  This experience will prepare me for my job because as a doctor I will be traveling all over the world throwing myself into different cultures and situations where I would be totally lost and have to become comfortable to be able to do my work.  Going to Italy will teach me to be comfortable in cultures different from my own.  It will teach me how to relate, understand, and be accepting to all that I will experience in the future.

I guess you could say my home life is pretty typical.  I live with my mom, step-dad, and every other weekend my step-sister.  We have two family pets Isabelle, our cat, and Annie, our dog.  We attend church on Sundays and I attend youth group on Wednesdays.  My mom says that our meals and TV time together is extremely valuable since we don't see each other that much.  We watch TV together in the evenings, take walks in the summer and spring, and have our typical family vacation at the beach every summer.

I love to dance: ballet, tap, and jazz; though tap is my absolute favorite.  I also enjoy reading, music, basketball, skateboarding, drawing, taking care of kids, church camp, outdoors, stars, and family.  Though I'd have to say one my favorite things in the world would have to be pop-tarts.  Most people would say that I am a shy and quiet person. They are right, but I also like to have fun, make people laugh, and try new things.  I am also glad to help whenever I am needed, if it’s a problem a friend has or cleaning my room for my mother.

Being accepted into the Italian Exchange Program would be a dream come true.  I thought I would never be able to have the chance to even apply for something like this until now, and I am extremely grateful to have the chance.  It is an amazing opportunity to learn and see so much; and I think it is great that an opportunity like this is offered at Hampshire High.
